The new business license tax recently passed for small businesses
You can apply for an exemption
There will be cuts to every bureau based on tariffs and everything happening on the federal level
There are small business retention programs, but Prosper will be cutting some support which will affect businesses.
Councilor asks for anyone to speak up on how we can best be supported
Rent abatement or assistance?
Vacancy fees?
Cleanliness and safety and homelessness?
This is budget cut season
We don’t have enough space to house the unhoused
We need more available restrooms
Better waste control
There are more people becoming unhoused at a higher rate than when the new mayor took office
350 new people every month
Security, mental health crises? Police response?
Councilor acknowledges that sweeps are not a sustainable solution, and that people need more support
If someone is having a crisis, call 9-1-1
If someone is just hanging out or camping, call 3-1-1
Councilor asks what our relationships are like with our houseless neighbors

Supporting the arts scene
Councilor wants to be put to work, help with murals, etc.
Last week, they passed an amendment to fund things like social housing or debt buy-downs to help keep rent stable
