Administrative & Organizational Updates

  • Consent forms and filming releases circulated; electronic release option available.

  • Bylaws approved by show of hands.

  • Board elections upcoming:

    • Five board directors to be elected.

    • Roles include Regional Manager, Assistant, Secretary, Treasurer, Community Liaison.

    • Appointed officers for specific projects can also be added.

    • Staggered terms for continuity.

  • Membership: Over 100 members, doubled in recent weeks.

  • Board nominations process to be supported by Kerns Neighborhood Association’s Jay.

  • Duties of board: project management, record-keeping, financial management, coordination.


Community Projects

Mural Update

  • 90% complete; volunteers included 20+ adults, 13–15 kids.

  • Cost: ~$430 for paint (donations accepted via Venmo; formal process in progress).

  • Instagram engagement growing: ~200 new followers in a month, 23,000 views, ~800 interactions.

  • Map printing: Risograph machine, ~400 copies, contributions encouraged.

  • QR code provided for businesses to submit photos and descriptions for the community website.

Website Update (Shay – Inner Beast)

  • Website live; encourages all businesses to join and submit 200-character description & photo.

  • First year membership is free; subsequent years $10 per member.

  • Membership page allows segmented updates and communication, avoiding unnecessary emails.

Documentary Project (Justin & Jude)

  • Short 5–10 min proof-of-concept doc highlighting neighborhood collaboration.

  • Long-term goal: docu-series, showcasing framework for other neighborhoods.

  • Raw footage available via secure link; intent is positive storytelling, not reality TV.

  • Audio interviews ongoing.


Rainbow Road Initiatives

  • PBOT funding: $7,000 for street furniture this year; maintenance/upkeep responsibility lies with community.

  • Friends of Rainbow Road organization to manage use of public spaces.

  • Events:

    • April 12 – Strongman Competition: keg throws, beer mile (optional run), etc.

    • April 19 – Wine Walk: ticketed event with stops at multiple wine merchants, volunteer opportunities available.

Raffle (Shay)

  • Businesses encouraged to donate items (physical or digital) for Strongman event raffle.

Promotion

  • Posters available for shop windows.

  • Instagram, shop distribution, and optional flyering.


Transportation & Street Safety (Andrea)

  • Goal: safer, more economically resilient streets supporting small business & pedestrians.

  • Specific focus on Burnside (currently unsafe to cross).

  • Proposed ideas:

    • Temporary “Bike Business District” for a day.

    • Street dining, pop-up vendors, sidewalk optimization.

    • Bike valet & transit incentives (e.g., discounts for biking/transit).

    • Low-cost PBOT intersection improvements:

      • Pedestrian lead intervals.

      • Red light timing adjustments.

      • No right-on-red enforcement.

  • Workshops (City Repair) on street painting and block parties: March 15 & April.

  • Coordination with Kerns Neighborhood Association for letters to PBOT.


Other Collaborative Opportunities

  • Curbside Serenade: monthly or bi-weekly street performance events (May–September). Contact via email: curbside.serenade@gmail.com.

  • Open call for stories from long-term neighborhood residents for documentary purposes.

  • Potential for a Transportation Safety Officer role to support initiatives.


Action Items & Next Steps

  1. Board elections: submit interest & statements; voting at next meeting.

  2. Website participation: businesses not yet on the site submit photo/description via QR code.

  3. Raffle items: businesses submit donations for Strongman event.

  4. Community events: coordinate volunteer participation and promotion.

  5. Street safety & transportation initiatives: review PBOT improvements; engage in March 15 & April workshops.

  6. Story collection: reach out to long-term residents for documentary content.
