Your City Councilor is here to help!Councilor Tiffany Koyama-Lane gave some remarks on her ideas about economic development in the area, focusing on listening to small businesses and community members to help improve things. She strongly encourages all members to message her at councilor.koyamalane@portlandoregon.gov with any issues you have (permitting, administrative processes etc.) and she’ll help you navigate and expedite the process.
Street Fair planning is in full swing! Thomas updated everyone on the street fair – all is going really well, the response from sponsors has been awesome, and a $6k grant from Venture Portland came through too! Thank you everyone for your generosity and enthusiasm!
Thomas then proposed a motion, seconded by Mallory, Emily, Jude and Kris (simultaneously) to employ Amy Theberge of Revel Events as our professional event manager for the street fair. This was approved unanimously.
If you want to get involved as a sponsor, volunteer or register your interest for a booth at the fair email thomas@kernside.org (sponsors automatically get a booth, and they are proving remarkably popular already, so lock yours in early!)
Are you our new Vice Chair? Shay is leaving the board in April, so we have a board position open for a new Vice-Chair. The job involves upkeep of Kernside.org, onboarding of new members, managing events, coordinating volunteers, and all the nuts and bolts which help Kernside run (somewhat) smoothly!
It’s not a small amount of work, but the board is very collegiate and we all pitch in together. It’s tremendously rewarding and you get to meet all sorts of wonderful folks in the neighborhood. If you’re interested email thomas@kernside.org to find out more! We will ideally vote at the April meeting, so if you’re interested throw your hat in the ring as soon as you can! |
Please pay your dues! Our first year of existence was totally free - our founding members covered the cost of website, email hosting and event startup costs. As we enter our second year we are asking all members to contribute $10 per year to help with these costs so we can continue to throw great events and advocate for you: https://www.kernside.org/memberdues
To keep your listing active on Kernside.org, please make sure to pay your dues by April 15th
*If you don't have a listing yet, fill out a membership form at: |
